Water Feature Installation Assistant Foreman

Employment Period: Full Time - 40 to 50 Hours Per Week
                                       12 Months Per Year)

Salary: Negotiable

Start Date: April 2008

Summary of Responsibilities

The applicant will be responsible for working with and managing a two or three man crew installing and maintaining indoor & outdoor water features for residential & commercial properties in and around the National Capital Region. This position is suited for someone graduating in 2008, and contemplating a 5 to 7 year career in the water garden industry.

Qualifications

•  High school graduate. Some post-secondary education in
   business management preferred.

•  Post-secondary graduate in horticulture, biology or a related
   field a must.

•  Minimum 2 years experience in a supervisory capacity in a
   related field.

•  Experience in the operation and basic maintenance of light
   & medium duty construction equipment, including excavators,
   loaders and heavy trucks.

•  Strong writing skills with an appreciation for accurate and timely
   project documentation.

•  Basic knowledge of plumbing & electrical systems & related
   building code technical requirements.

•  Willingness to work in an apprentice style setting.

•  Strong interpersonal and client interactivity skills; strong work
   ethic.

•  Very strong leadership, planning and project management skills

•  Excellent health & physical fitness.



Retail Sales Support Associate

 Employment Period: Full Time (40 hours per week);
                                         Seasonal (April to December)

                                         Part Time (20 hours per week);
                                         Seasonal (April to December)

Salary: Negotiable

Start Date: April 2008

Summary of Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be working primarily in a sales capacity, within an innovative business environment, catering to both retail clients and contractors. The candidate will be involved in all aspects of the sales cycle, including receiving shipments, pricing inventory, creating invoices and updating client records. The candidate should possess a keen interest in the water gardening hobby, which will be conveyed to clients, as they are walked through the steps, required to build an ecosystem pond, pondless waterfall, fountainscape or container garden. The candidate will also be required to care for all perennial & aquatic plants and ornamental fish, in inventory. A key role for the candidate will be to follow a routine maintenance schedule in order to ensure that store displays, retail space and warehouse are kept clean & tidy. The candidate will be required to do some independent learning, in order to obtain sufficient knowledge about the water gardening hobby to serve clients, with confidence. The candidate will also be expected to attend all in-service paid trainings, throughout the season. This position would be best suited for a candidate who is graduating in 2008, and contemplating a career in the water gardening industry. There will be advancement potential to various managerial positions.

Qualifications

   business management, preferred.

•  Post-secondary graduate in horticulture, preferred.

•  Retail sales experience.

•  Knowledge of Quickbooks accounting program, and database
   management.

•  Strong interpersonal and client interactivity skills; strong work
    ethic, essential.

•  Ability to follow existing systems; attention to detail, essential.

•  Strong writing skills and excellent grammar, essential.

•  Experience operating electric forklift, preferred.

•  Excellent health & physical fitness, essential.
